You stand in front of the mirror in your leather attire and think, "I wish I could go out like this and enjoy the power and pleasure it gives me."
But then you turn back and change into something more “appropriate”.
Le cuir c’est un miroir, ca reflète l’atmosphère, ca reflète ce que vous avez à l’intérieur également. - Jean Claude Jitrois
"Leather is a mirror, it reflects the atmosphere, it reflects what you have inside as well."
If you were to ask me today what I am most afraid of, I would tell you that I am afraid of being ordinary.
(Of course, this fear comes after the fear of losing a family member and some of the more common fears.)
For a long time, I harbored a fear within me, until I recently uncovered and fully comprehended its potential. This revelation occurred a few months back during my journey to become a certified life coach. To guide others in self-discovery, one must first master their own emotions and thought patterns. There should be no secrets about our own identity. During an exercise, I realized my strong desire to stand out, driven by a fear of mediocrity. I also observed common traits in individuals I admire – they all possess extraordinary qualities. Is it a coincidence? I don't think so!
Everyone can dare to wear leather at home, but its full potential is discovered when worn outside.
Now imagine you have a magic stick that can show you the best version of yourself. You stand in front of the mirror in your leather attire and…
Every one of you has your vision of the ideal courageous version of yourself.
What is yours?
Living your life to the best of your ability is a responsibility. Discovering your true self requires a commitment to self-improvement. and realizing your potential can be challenging. Overall, it is easier to “fit in” and be ordinary, especially if you haven't made an effort to explore what might be on the other side, so you don’t even tasted the nectar of power of being different.
Fear is the main driver for everything that we don’t do in our lives.
Some people are afraid to be different because they fear being judged. Some hesitate to share their deepest desires out of fear of rejection. Some avoid wearing the clothing they like because they are afraid of losing their partner.
Etc… Etc…
You know what your fear is…. But do you know how to efficiently use it so it can serve you rather than limit you?
Discover the source of your fears and if you realize they are holding you back, seek a way to transform them.
What has helped me, is turning my fear into strength and using it as a driving force for my actions.
I encourage you to examine your fear of wearing leather. Identify it and use it as a source of motivation. Conscious decisions are powerful and can drive positive changes in your life.
There are days when even I don't care about what I wear (although they are extremely rare). I could just put on jeans, of which I still have five pairs from many years ago, and head out. But then I remind myself that I don't want to be ordinary. How can I change the world without my armor? This motivates me to put away the jeans and head towards my leather wardrobe.
I give my fear a form and even a name: "Feardinary," the fear of being ordinary. I talk to this part of myself and say, "Not today. It's time to GHG: glow, help, and grow!
Fear often serves as a barrier to things we lack the courage to do. It can even become a comfort zone.
I used to encounter this issue quite often at work when I first started wearing leather. I was apprehensive about wearing more than one leather piece because I thought it might be too much for my colleagues. Despite my down-to-earth style, I was quite hesitant. However, I soon realized that life becomes much more fulfilling when one steps out of their comfort zone. I transformed my fear into excitement and began to enjoy new experiences, allowing myself to wear what I deemed appropriate. And you know what happened? Nothing except for gaining self-confidence and receiving admiration for my excellent style.
Now, ask yourself: Why don't you wear leather more often? Could it be because of fear?
Great post, as always.
I’ll admit that it's fear. I don’t have a fear of being ordinary, but I have a fear of standing out and thus attracting attention to myself. When it comes to wearing leather, particularly leather pants, I’m not as confident about wearing them in an environment where they stand out too much…and where people are judgmental about this type of clothing.
The time when I was the most motivated to wear leather often was when I had a girlfriend who liked wearing leather clothing. It was her enthusiasm for leather that really compelled me to get my first pair of leather pants at the time. Having a partner who loved wearing leather did make me feel…
