Make it happen with power of leather

Updated: Oct 22

Today, I finally did something I've been wanting to do for years. It wasn't like a huge bucket list item or anything, just needed the right conditions to make it happen.

Good conditions didn’t arrive for two and a half years. Either I was traveling and hence wasn't in Paris, or the event was canceled due to bad weather. This year the weather was a real enemy, and I am not talking only about my leather outfit.

This weekend was supposed to be THE ONE where I'd finally make my roller skating dreams a reality! Imagine this: roller skating in Paris with an enthusiastic group who have been doing it for 40 years!

It all started two and half years ago when I looked out of my window in my new apartment and saw a lively group of roller skaters whizzing by every Sunday. Being a fan of inline skating, I knew I had to get in on the action. After a quick search that only took a few seconds, I found the organizers' Facebook page. Bingo! It's a weekly thing - every Sunday. I'm totally joining in on the next one!

Two and half years ago….

Oh no, I missed it again! I kept saying to myself every Sunday while being in Paris when I saw the group, but every time I was either busy or just totally forgot.

Waiting for ideal conditions may result in not taking any action at all.

I woke up this Friday with a sore throat. Great timing, right before the weekend. Well, thinking positively, I told myself that it is a sign to detox and focus on an important project that is coming next week. And that's exactly what I did!

By Sunday, I was still battling a runny nose and a nagging cough. Not ideal, but that's life. Sometimes you have to push through even when you're not feeling your best. I kept wondering, will there be good conditions before winter hits Paris? And, maybe sweating it out will help me kick whatever my body is fighting off. So, I geared up in my workout clothes, ready to tackle it with a big dose of determination.

Yet, something was missing... I couldn't leave without a little leather something that represents my passion. Something that shows who I am. I needed a leather token that allowed me to be myself. So, I grabbed a leather cap and, of course, a watch.

It's surprising how small details (accessories) can boost your confidence. It's all about mindset, but why not get a little help from things that remind us of who we are?

I joined this group of skaters at Place de la Bastille. I immediately felt at ease as the ride was incredibly well-organized. I could see their 40 years of experience and synchronization in navigating the Parisian jungle. It was awesome because we got to cruise down the big boulevard without worrying about cars, buses, or pedestrians crowding the space and making inline skating risky otherwise.

I observed that many people had headphones on, grooving to their tunes and getting into their own little world of pleasure. After a few kilometers, I decided to do the same. I chose my current favorite songs and just soaked in the moment, feeling pure joy. It was such a delight!

I'm sharing this with you because I truly believe that every one of you has something special waiting for the "perfect" conditions.

Forget about waiting for the perfect conditions because the perfect moment is right now!

And, if you're not feeling like rocking whatever you desire to do in a full leather outfit, just grab something small that reminds you of who you are and motivates you to go out there and make things happen.

Remember, no one else can make you happy – you've got to find that joy within yourself.

Go out there and seize that happiness...may leather power be with you.
